Yin Kun is a leading figure of China’s post-1990s contemporary art scene. Born in Sichuan in 1969, he graduated from the Fine Arts Department of Aba Teachers College in 1992. In 1994, he began creating work at the Yuanmingyuan Artist Village in Beijing and has lived and worked in Songzhuang since 1998.
Yin Kun is internationally recognized for his psychologically charged figurative paintings that explore identity, desire, and the contradictions of contemporary urban life. His works are distinguished by exaggerated forms, ironic humor, and emotional intensity, forming a highly personal visual language that bridges social commentary and poetic imagination.
He has held numerous solo exhibitions across Asia and Europe, including major presentations in Beijing, Singapore, the Netherlands, Indonesia, Shanghai, and Hong Kong. His work has also been featured in international art fairs and museum exhibitions, including Art Basel Miami Beach.
