Lv Zhe was born in Jilin, China in 1985. He currently studies at the Central Academy of Fine Arts and lives and works in Beijing.

Lv Zhe’s latest series of “Field Landscape” paintings further explores the relationship between real-world experience and spiritual structures. Through highly artificial spatial compositions, these works juxtapose ordered geometric architectural structures with the subconscious, murky surface of a lake, creating a heterotopia reminiscent of a stage set. For example, in “Landscape of Hell Lake,” the symmetrical perspective composition uses a golden passageway leading into the depths as a guiding light for the spiritual dimension. The tranquil waters harbor repressed emotional energy, while the misty purple structures, like a symbol of life in flux, create tension with the distant walls symbolizing memory.

Lv Zhe’s paintings lie between reality and fiction, transforming the relationship between “architecture, people, and environment” into a spiritual landscape. Through metaphorical arrangements of objects, they reinterpret the meaning of “seeing” in the contemporary era. This series of works is not a reproduction of a real landscape, but a visual depiction of the human inner structure.-
