Li Xiangqun is a senior professor of liberal arts at Tsinghua University and currently serves as Vice Chairman of the 10th China Artists Association and Member of the 11th National Committee of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles.

Born in 1961, he was admitted to the Sculpture Department of Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts in 1978. After graduating in 1982, he remained at the academy as a faculty member and later pursued a master’s degree in sculpture there in 1987.

He previously served as Research Fellow at the Sculpture Institute of Central Academy of Fine Arts (1990–2000), Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at Tsinghua University’s Academy of Arts & Design (2000–2014), and President of Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts (2014–July 2023). He is currently a doctoral supervisor at Northeastern University, Vice Director of the Ministry of Education’s Steering Committee for Fine Arts Programs, Member of the Exhibition Review Committee of the National Museum of China, Deputy Director of the National Committee for Major Thematic Art Creation, and Board Member of Shenzhen University. He also served as a member of the 12th National Committee of the CPPCC and Standing Committee Member of the 13th People’s Congress of Liaoning Province.

His major works include Wang Shenglie, which received the Heatherley School of Fine Art Prize at the 56th Annual Exhibition of the Royal Society of Portrait Sculptors in the UK, and Striving Forward (Xing Jian), awarded the Taylor Foundation Prize at the 2013 Salon d’Hiver in France. He has also led the creation of significant national commissions, including The Flag at the Party School of the CPC Central Committee and Towards Victory at the Military Museum of the Chinese People’s Revolution.
